Latest change to the Touring Lodge

Postby prohandyman » Thu Jan 17, 2013 5:59 pm

Who says you are ever done with these silly campers...made another change. Always wanted a swept back fender, just had steel half moon style. Well...came across a pair of 1937 Chevy truck fenders last fall at a swap meet. Got them for a steal, needed a little welding and body work and bolted them on!
What do you think?

Those fenders look bitchin', Dan ... ...!

I've always said that fenders can make or break the overall look of a teardrop ... and while the Touring Lodge was really fine to begin with, it's really damn fine now ... :D ...!

Good choice Dan. I chose the '37 fenders over the '46 fenders because of the bead that goes around the lower edge and they just look right on the larger teardrop.

Very hot rod look now. I like it.

...but the half round fenders in your avatar gave me the retro feel back to SoCal in the seventies when people were pulling metal flake ski boats all over the place with that kind of fender. I like both looks, but I kind of like the simple sleek look of the half rounds better. You know what they say about opinions.

Must be the east coast influence on me.

Chrome was getting a little rusty, so I decided to sandblast and paint the wheels. Still un-decided on black though. Maybe a chrome trim ring to break up the black.
