Hey Thomas, it looks like you have altered your original profile? I noticed that the profile examples you showed at the beginning of the thread, in your signature, and the previous pic's of your side wall frames had a nice gently curved piece of flat bar on the perimeter, but the pic's you just put up have a more flat shape over the doors and the front wall-to-ceiling transition. I'm curious about the change.

Yeah, the previous pics were the profile that I was aiming for, but I knew what the flar bar did was going to have the final say regardless of what I wanted LOL. I had hoped the front would gently curve more but the distance from the front of the frame to the first roof spar was so short, that the thick steel didn't want to curve and decided to bend instead. The roof ended up needing to be flat just for ease of installing the roof vent too. I think the aluminum skin will help alot and it will appear rounded except for that one spot. I think if I made that first roof spar a little lower it might have opened up the radius enough to let it make the curve, so I'll put that in the revisions pile for the next one!

You've got enough of it built to got beaver's bend. Just add some running/turn/stop lights and throw a tarp over it, and you'll be good to go!

This weekend I got all the interior panels cut and fitted into place. It is supposed to storm tomorrow, so I pulled them out. I will do the same for the insulation and exterior panels and just keep them off to the side until I get the suspension and floor done, and then, I’ll be able to put it together in one sitting!

I put each interior panel up against it on the outside of the frame, drew my cut lines and within a few short minutes I had a wall, then the headliner slipped into place with a little trimming...

Hey Tom,

Yes I have been pre-occupied with stuff but I definitely appreciate you saving them for me! I am going to just use one for the door on this one and then use the other on my "real" build, the standy next year!!! I will give you a buzz pretty soon to come by as well as Mark for the trim, thank you too buddy!!

How about adding some angle iron to the sides when you extend the tongue to give you an "A" frame look and add stiffness to the extended tongue?

I hadn't planned to extend the tongue, just extend the square frame and move the tongue forward to follow the extension, but you got me thinking that the tongue really is pretty short so I just measured it and it is only 2' 6"!



I actually like the clean and classic look of a straight tongue and it is going to be super light (and skinny) so it should not be a problem but it looks like I am now adding an extension after seeing how frighteningly short this one is. Using the stock tongue was starting to become a pain to plan around anyway since it was a fixed length so I had to make sure I placed the cross frame bars in the right location. You make a good point about strength too so I am thinking to just to get a 6'-8' section of some 2x2 1/8" Square tube like I used on my last frame to make a 4' tongue and that will give me the longer length as well as being much stronger, and that will actually be less work than trying to mate angle up to the existing one which would look ramshackled.

I plan on just renewing the tags on my old Teardrop's plates, so I am not concerned with the VIN tag that is on the stock tongue, but I can use the original tongue as the additional front crossbar I will need which will keep the VIN# on the trailer so I will be covered in case the TRAILER PO PO do a spot check!

OK like... ahhh..... Beaver's Bend is Friday eh? No days off until then? Well I am REALLY glad for the time change because that gives me a whole hour after work to have daylight to get the teardrop campable!

Today the assembly finally happened! I bolted the frame to the floor, the floor to the trailer, installed the interior, insulation and almost got done with the roof skin. By tomorrow the roof should be done and Tues I will build the door frame Wednesday comes the AC, lisence plate and tail lights and Thursday (hopefully) the window and door handles will come in and I can build the door that night, otherwise I might be building the door Friday at the park!!!
