I have about $300 dollars in materials for the fiberglass. I bought the Fiberglass cloth on sale as it was the last 20 yards on a bolt, I think it was something like $2.85 a yard. I am also using a store branded epoxy which is much cheaper, like $75 a gallon. I have had to buy a second Gallon as it looks like the first gallon is not going to finish the project. That all said , I'm not sure it will be cheaper as I also have to purchase paint to provide the UV protection needed. I think it may be more labor intensive too. The amount of time I have spent on the roof alone I could have skinned and trimmed the whole tear and I'm not finished with the roof. My reason for Fiberglassing vs Aluminum sheet is I want to make sure there is no water intrusion. Plywood boats use the same process to make them water tight so I figure this should work great a I do not plan to submerge my tear. I have no plans for any trim as this would require penetrating the fiberglass.

Lots of sanding. I have the rear sanded smooth and a coat of primer to use as a guide coat. Probably have a couple of more fill coats before it is all wave free.

Block sanded the primer today and had 4.5 roof supports that showed a bit of wave to them so another coat of filler in those spots. I plan to top coat in a automotive urethane but still a lot of sanding to do before that.

Last coat of fill for the Top. The 2K primer says to use the catalyst within 14 days of opening so I'll wait to spray when the sides are done. Looks like Sunday I will have some friends over to help flip it on its side to fiberglass the first side and enclose and fiberglass the bottom.

We got it flipped and it was not that big of a deal with 3 of us. Time to start on the side and insulate and enclose the bottom.

Smoothed out some of the rough spots on the side. Insulated the floor and started to enclose the bottom of the floor.

Took a snow day even though I haven't seen snow since 4:00am. I got the bottom closed up and the fiberglass on the side. Doesn't sound like much but took better part of the day.

I managed to get 2 weave fill coats on the side of the teardrop today. Hopefully only 1 or 2 more coats and a little sanding in between.

Put one more coat of epoxy on the first side sanded and everything look good with the exception of a few touch ups needed. Completed the touch ups and flipped the tear to start on the other side. Got the second side prepped and glass laying on it to start epoxying in the morning.

I fiber glassed the second side today and got 3 fill coats on. Hopefully sand tomorrow and spot fill any problem areas.
