Fantastic build, the hours you've put into it show. I don't think I have the patience to build a work of art like you have.

:? As I am typing this update at 8:00 pm, the temperature is 100 degrees. I'm not sure how much more of this I can stand.

I did get a chance to work on the SB a few hours this afternoon. To be able to install the upper cabinets, so that I can install my converter and finish the electrical system, I had to finish my galley countertop.

From an earlier post, I noted that I'm using glass mosaic tiles. Not having done any tile work before, I was concerned. With the teardrop bouncing down the highway, keeping the tile in place is a priority. I ended up using PL Premium as "thinset". Mark (Planovet) and Earl (Loader) among others have adhered their tile this way.

After drawing layout lines, I squirted on the PL Premium, then used a notched trowel to level the glue "setting bed", and positioned the sheets of tile in place.

I'm happy with how it came out. Seems to match my cabinets, and fenders, wheels and tires pretty good.

The tile needs to sit awhile before I grout the joints. My focus shifts back to the interior cabinets.

Take care,
Tom

Hey Tom

That countertop looks great. That pl premium is some tough stuff. I don't think you'll have to worry about your tile breaking loose.

Hi Tom, I wasn't sure about the countertop until I saw it installed and it totally brings the different colors of the teardrop together! Looks perfect! I am glad you took an additional outdoor shot. I never get tired of seeing it! Sure, you took awhile to get to this point, but greatness takes time and this teardrop is greatness!

Danny, I agree the picture will make your head spin. In person, it doesn't look as busy as it does in the photos. The area between the two counter cabinets will have a microwave or toaster oven so part of it will be covered. I think the white grout I plan to use will also help tone it down.

Thanks, Thomas. That's what I was hoping to achieve. Of course many times during my build when I was having one of those "hoping to achieve" moments, I ended up having to rip it out and start all over.

Take care,
Tom

That tile job looks awesome and I am going to use the PL premium idea for my road foamie. What are you grouting with? Standard stuff?

I've been peeking in on this build from time to time and I'm very impressed. IMO, this is one of the better builds I've seen.
