Living hinge... How about taking two pieces of heavy canvas, sew them together across the middle with something strong like kevlar thread , then “rubberize “ that section ... install it as a hinge .. ? We’ve been using hinges like this on foam planes for years ... they never fail, and they don’t leak ... ...

Next to bolt the frame rails back in. They came off to be stained and varnished. Now I need them back in to align the body to the floor.

Thanks! It would come along a lot faster if I did not have to sit and think about how to do things, but then it probably would not be so much fun. Already building a bigger unit in my head. This trailer has really got the wheels turning now.....

For my galley hinge I used a piece of old fire hose. It is made from rubber and nylon. This was from 5" hose, so it's real thick, probably to thick for a door but same idea.

Got too hot here to work on the foamie much. I did manage to get a couple frame rails installed and made my front wall extension.

I used 2"x3" flashing to go under the floor and attach with the bolts that hold the forward inner frame rail in place. This will give a nice hard edge along the bottom of the front wall and will help hold the wall in place better than just gluing the wall to the OSB edge.

Although I thought I had planned a lot of the build, there were lots of time, I found myself staring at the build thinking... 10 - 15 minutes at a time. Maybe it was day dreaming but I did find myself sketching a lot after those episodes of contemplation. Part of the fun. Exercising the ol' noodle If I had a job that required such imagination, I might not have built the Road Foamie, so in the long run, I guess I should be grateful for a boring job....

Foamies ... The “thinking man’s trailer “ ... ladies too ... ... Thinking is Good !!! Just beware of Imagination ... that can go both ways and be either very creative or quite a distraction from purpose ...

One thing I notice while working today is that the foam on the front is turning color. Looking closer at it I realized that it was deteriorating from sun exposure. So keep your foamies out of the sun until you get them covered.

George , we found that on extruded foam , intense photon bombardment causes the surface color to fade , but the underlying area is unaffected ... on bead board the process is much accelerated , weakening the bond between the beads on the surface , but un-affecting their composition ... but all that takes a long time to happen ... No worries unless you build Really SLOW ..... like me ...

I have some unprotected pink foundation foam that has eroded around a half inch in a decade. It's fully exposed to the weather, including getting full sun for the morning.
