I've been in one, they seem to be well made. Here's a post that I made about them:

One just came into the campground we are at in southern GA. It's their first trip out since buying it. Made by someone that formerly built boats, and seems well made. No propane in it, but has a sink, shower, water heater, A/C, and cassette toilet. Queen size bed in front with a real mattress. We have seen a lot of fiberglass campers as we are spending the winter in our Uhaul camper rather than the teardrop, so we check out any other fiberglass campers we see that the owners are willing to give tours of. We like the Snoozy, were told the cost was around $18,000. Seems to be available with several options, including window options. We would consider buying if we had that kind of money to spend. Note that it has a rear door.

EDIT: If you go to the fiberglassrv.com forum there are Snoozy owners there who will be happy to answer questions.

I like it a lot; but, it has a couple problems (besides the $18,000+ price):

1) It is on the other side of the USA (South Carolina)
2) It is 89" tall and my garage door opening is 84" tall. :(

Ah, well...I don't need it; so, I don't need to find the money either. HaHa!

13' Scamps start at about half the price. I'm thinking about one of those.

Not to in any way talk down Scamp (had one, loved it), but the Snoozy is 50% longer inside than a Scamp 13, with way more usable space. It comes with far more standard features, and has a much more usable bathroom. If you loaded up a Scamp to be feature-equivalent to a Snoozy, it wouldn't be anywhere near "half" the price anymore. I think the build method of the Snoozy is also a lot more solid than the Scamp.

Again -- nothing against Scamps. And, we certainly don't all need nor want what Snoozy has to offer, but just comparing price per feature, I don't think the Snoozy is out of line compared to Scamp. Also, a Scamp 16, which is still smaller than a Snoozy, similarly equipped, costs nearly what a Snoozy costs.

Bob:

The video I watched appeared to be a smaller unit, although it's probably just my judgement of the size. For someone like me, who has minimalistic needs, a starting price of around $9000.00 is certainly appealing. I was very satisfied with my Hyundai for years, didn't need a BMW. :D If you can afford the quality, and want the quality, by all means go for it! (I did upgrade to a Subaru which was twice the price of my Hynudai).

2 Scamp 13's for sale on fiberglassrv.com, near Albany NY. Both of them only a couple years old. We like our 13' Uhaul better than the Scamps we've seen, but it's had its own problems. Older Scamps have their own issues too, but still can be a good camper. Did I see you registered for Fish Creek?

my problem, i'm not small and neither is my wife. I like the idea of a full queen mattress. I don't think those dinette beds would hold us both.

The basic Scamp 13 has a 46" wide dinette bed. Considering one edge of it has radius curves, it is definitely a cuddly bed. You can get a 54" wide (double) bed by ordering the Custom Deluxe wood interior, but that is pricey. My wife and I are neither one large, and we sleep in a double bed at home. We were very comfy in our Custom Deluxe, but would not have been in a 46" standard.

Now, we have a Little Guy 4-wide, which has a ... 46.5" bed. It is definitely squeezie. But, in a teardrop, you can't exactly fall out of bed, so it works. If we were buying again, we would get a 5-wide.

The Snoozy comes out of the box with a full-time queen bed. For most people, there would be a huge appeal to that - worth a few bucks.

If you want a bathroom, the Scamp bath is very tight, and at 5'11", I had to crouch to shower. The Snoozy has a full stand-up shower.

Scamps do have a tendency towards floor rot. They have a gazillion rivet holes and other penetrations, and they are insulated with reflectix insulation. Any water that seeps in goes right to the floor, usually undetected, and nearly the entire floor perimeter is hidden in a cabinet of some sort, so moisture typically isn't noticed until the damage is extensive. I'm not saying that Scamp's are to be avoided (they are much better than most non-fiberglass campers), but this is sort-of their Achilles Heel.

Snoozy's have far fewer penetrations (no rivets), and there is no wood in the floor or walls. The walls themselves are sandwich-constructed for rigidity, so leaks are less likely. In the event of a leak, there is not much to rot. But, you pay for this type of construction.

I consider the Scamp to be a "normal" grade camper, and the Snoozy to be a "premium" grade camper. I have asked Snoozy to consider building an island-double-bed floorplan. That, in my opinion, would make it suitable for full-timing for my wife and I. I would not try to full-time in a Scamp 13 (although it has been done).

To sum up, I think it is difficult to directly compare the Scamp 13 and the Snoozy. There just aren't similar enough. Both are fine, and both are going to fit some people's needs better than the other one will. If you want to compare, you'd want to look at a Scamp 16' Custom Deluxe with bath, and that will set you back more than $18k, making the Snoozy price seem more reasonable.

Yes I finally remembered to look early enough to get the long weekend from work. I've missed it the last two years due to vacation conflicts at work. I will be in site # 210. Finally get to take my kayak somewhere other than local waters!!! :applause:

lots of good kayaking there off the main lake, creeks that open into ponds, portages if you like to get to more remote areas. See you there, and hope for good weather as rain is common. We are retired and forgot what work is! :D
