It's been a while since i posted any updates but I've mainly just been layering on the canvas and glue and paint so not worth talking about :SH

I've also been waiting on a dry day so i could cut open the front.
And today was the day.

First i re-undercoated the base of the box..

Image

Then i went inside the trailer and drilled out through the front wall

Image

Then i joined the dots on the outside..

Image

And then did the one thing i was dreading the most :worship:

Image

Thankfully it all worked :D

Image

then things went a little bit wrong, the nozzle on my last tube of silicone broke off and the silicone kind of exploded all over the place. I had to use a kitchen spatula to paint the silicone on and it all went a bit messy

Image

Image

then i started the inside framing

Image

Now it's all strapped up and left to dry overnight..

Image

Lots more painting to do and i still need to run some bolts through the floor to secure it properly.

Thanks stonykill.

Not much done today due to the weather, it rained cats and dogs for a while then moved onto horses and ponies thank god the elephants and hippos didn't arrive like they where supposed to :frightened:

But at least with all that rain there was no sign of any leaks yet in the new join

all i did today was to bolt the box down using a large squared U-bolt then i finished boxing in the bottom half of the box and did some more messy siliconing

Heres how the inside looks now, you can see the U-bolt just behind the front bracket.

Image

And this is the bed extension side..

Image

That's an extra foot added to the length of the bed for any of those vertically obese people that might want to borrow the trailer. The center of the bed is now 7' 2" long

Not much more done just more painting...

Image

Image

Finally decided to paint the wheels too. That's most of the building done just need a door for the front inside cupboard and a few more layers of paint. I don't know what I'm going to do when it is finally finished. Maybe build another one

Well that's it, all done. Just a side table left to make and and a lock to fit on one side of the tongue box but the trailer is finished :P :P

Image

Image

Lock from an old office filing cabinet used on the storage doors, need another one for the other door.

Image

Gas now up front.

Image

Battery on other side.
Image

bed extension and cupboard all done.

Image

And a trip to east of Germany booked for next month :D

Not sure what the rules are in the UK, but in the US it is not legal to store large propane bottles in a locked compartment. I forget if they need to be ventilated or not, but it is a good idea regardless.

Safety first.

I'm not sure what the rules in the UK are either, seen as i don't live there.

What are the rules there in Canada? :D

But seeing as my father was once the manager for the national gas company I have gas safety beaten into my brain. The box is vented through the floor on all four corners and sealed from the living space, also the bottle is more than 2 meters (actually 4 meters) from ignition source. Plus the new cooker/stove is being returned to the store it was purchased from for the third time for replacement because this one has a slightly too loose gas connector pipe which tests has proven can leak if positioned wrong when opened.

The first one had a loose burner which flared up when lit. Really not happy with this brand of stove so far :x

No worries. It's only been 98 years since we "politely declined" leadership from the English monarchy.

Yeah, but I'm having a deja vu moment, like I've made this same mistake before... recently.

Talking about that french deceases that makes you see thing twice.
I used to be a tour bus driver and most of my clients where from your part of the world.
One day, on a tour of our capital city (Dublin) a guy who was an F.B.I. investigator in his normal day job asked "when are we going to see big Ben?" :?

It took me a while to explain how far away we where from said land mark.

Is a good idea to have the battery and propane in the same compartment?

looks great one thing of some worry.

Am I seeing gas on one side and battery on the other is there a division between the two.

Gas and sparks are grate for fireworks.

The guys around here who have either in the unit put a air outlet in the door so fumes from batteries or gas go some where else.

hard to see by the picture and hope you have it all figured. It looks like you think things out so I am just checking??
