I think it took me four passes per skeleton but they are nice and plumb. I'd choose this method again and it was a good warm-up for when I cut the hatch ends.

Nice! What is the bit diameter?

1/4” spiral upcut. The offcuts should be the correct height for the spar blocking now.

So I was wondering if you are planning on 1/4" ceilings, but I'll be you cut the skeleton with an extra 1/8" for the offcuts, right?

Watching your build is as much fun as doing my own, without all the pesky work!

1/8" Baltic, 2" of hard foam (2" spars), and topped off with 1/8" Baltic that will be fiberglassed.

Heap strong.

Just because... (that's my story for now and I'm sticking to it)

I built my second trailer because the wind blew my pepperoni away. :(

You're off to a fast start, looks like a great build!

That'd push me over too. :x

The removable coupler is more or less done. No more wondering how easy it would be to defeat my coupler lock. :frightened:

And no, I won't be entering those welds in the county fair.

I curious about your removable coupler. In what situations would you need to remove it? And is it adjustable and if so, why? Interesting concept and nice work!

We boondock. Sometimes we just camp. Hang out, cook, read and relax but for most of our camps, we leave the teardrop unattended and go explore. We find a hike or something that we want to look at. So our teardrop is all by its lonesome. I've got a coupler lock but I don't think it'd last long with some yahoo and a battery-powered Sawzall.

When we head back to camp, I'm always looking to make sure she's there.

So in the future, I'll just pull the coupler when we set up camp and put it in the Tacoma.

It's not my idea. I think the first time I heard of the concept was from Grant Whipp of Little Bear Teardrops.

It's not adjustable.

Great idea. I'll steal it one day. (The idea not the Teardrop.) That's a beautiful picture of your rig. And those welds are darn respectable!

I have multiple locks, but as Dad always said, "Locks are to keep honest people honest." If you really want to steal the Astroliner, I'm sure you could. A little ingenuity, a prybar, a sawsall, a sledge hammer and some time. You would have to work at it though. And even if you defeated multiple locks, there's still the hidden GPS that you couldn't find if you wanted to. It's powered by its own hidden lithium supply that could last for weeks. I know if it moves, even if the wind blows hard enough. Multiple cell phone alarms signal if it leaves its invisible fence. I can see how fast it's going and can locate it visually in an instant, accurate to within 5 feet because it operates on Satellites not Cell towers. At about $3 per month for the SIM card, it's cheap insurance. James Bond spy technology for a Space Age teardrop!

I highly recommend one. You can check it while you're gone and have peace of mind. Ours worked accurately even when we couldn't get cell service. Cool technology.

There are several, from what I see they are basically the same internally. Here's a link:

I like the idea but it says $25/month when I look at it.

I got mine on Ebay but it's no longer available from what I see. But there are a ton of them. I got mine without a SIM card and bought a card through US Mobile. $3 a month, no contract.

I've been busy chasing other rabbit holes lately but have managed to get a few more things done on the chassis.

That vertical receiver is for an over-the-tongue-box bike rack down the road.

When I cut the axle order with Dexter, they said three weeks. It's now looking like seven. (It got lost in Georgia). Plan A was to get the chassis done and moved out of the shop. So maybe next week I can get the axle installed, make some room, and get cooking on the walls.

:frightened:
