No, I was talking about the top cover on the roof. It's pointed at the front on the 1500 and blunt on the 1300's or at least they use to be.

I had to reinforce my Pop Up roof frame to support mine too. THey Pop UPs are nly made to support the 1300's.

If it works well you can park in the Mojave in August and make pop sickles in your living room.

Had a nice, warm, sunny day, so I finally resumed work on the little trailer today.

First, I built a frame with 14 x 14 ID:







Mounted frame between rear rafters, & drilled 4 corner holes:






Went topside, marked, & cut out with saber saw:






Inserted Fan-tastic roof vent. It fits!






Mounted Camco roof-vent cover:






Voila! Like the A/C, all finished except for the wiring!



Next comes driver-side window & insulation.

Got the trim piece for the fan cut down to the thickness of the ceiling, & installed:






And the first wall gets the insualtion treatment! Yee-Hah!





Still have to insulate the space in the wall studs, but the first wall is almost finished, insulation-wise.

At this rate, I'll have it finished just in time for the
apocalypse of 2012, when it'll become my permanent home.

I like what your doing , I am right behind you. I bought a 5x8 in Florida, I am Kentucky and my son is supposed to leave tomorrow (Friday) to bring it up. I am ready to get started. I went shopping @ lowes for the insulation, & I have been looking for windows and doors. So if you dont mind I'll just follow your footsteps here..I have always said I am a cook not a carpenter. I do cook for a living so this should be interesting. Did you put the A/C in yourself?

Where did you find the roof vent cover? One of those might come in handy for my build.

I installed one of those covers and while I am totally pleased with the cover, I realized this winter that even with an arch (curved) roof, that this slope or curve is not enough to stop water leaking at the sealer around the vent flange. When you install this you will need to make sure the area will not leak or doesn't leak. Facts are that the one foot of snow will not be stopped from entering the vent seal even with this cover on as it leaks while standing still since last November. Getting back to the opening sentence, I will need to remove the cover and remove the old sealer and put on new sealer or eternal bond which is what I am thinking of putting on the vent flange then reinstalling the vent cover.

As for the A/C, no way. FAR too heavy for ME to wrestle with.

I agree with what someone else said on the expansion factor.

I used 1" Styrofoam with moisture barrier on both sides. I used a couple tubes of liquid nails to stick it to the ceiling and scraps to fill in the edges where the roof bends.

Now I just need to figure the best way to get some luan attached to the ceiling.

Was not as bad a job as I though it might be; about 8 hours for walls and ceiling. Was told to use a serrated knife to cut the foam but found a skill saw was 10 times faster and cut better as well.
