Hi everyone,

Well, I finally got time to work on the lights again. I ran a ground wire to each fixture, as some of you have done, and I am happy to report that all lights are now working... :applause:

I had the same problem with my HF trailer and a warning ticket for the lights that some times worked. So I wired the lights with a ground wire to each light and replaced all the lights with LED ones.

You are so much better off this way.

Almost every automotive light made uses a common ground and If it weren't on a "Moving Object" I would say its fine.

And a lot of times it is fine but all it takes is a little "jiggling" some rust or a loose bolt somewhere, somewhere is a BIG word.

And you've got to start with "Adam & Eve" and work your way up to find the problem.

2 wires, one to a hot and the other to the Battery AND the frame isn't hard to trace.

But one hot and the other to a bolt on the light, that's connected to the fender, that's connected to a bracket, that's connected to the frame and the frame is a "Bolt together" and then to the tongue and bla bla bla and on and on.

I spend a lot of time at gatherings under trailers finding ground problems.

Smart move.

Happy Trails

Have used my HF for over 5 years with no problems! My ground is to the frame as per directions that came with the trailer.

both of my h/f frames were welded.. never had to run a ground to each light over 6 year... but, if that is what it takes, that is what you have to do.

When I bought my HF trailer I also picked up a bag containing two pieces of that plastic armor for wiring. It just happened to be the right length. I feel better know the wiring is protected from rubbing on the frame members.
