Cd, dont u mean: "me and my sister
learnt eccelent speling and we
right good."
We all type before we think some times, this forum is more like conversation than formal writing, and that is expected, and I make my share of typing mistakes, but we could all benefit from a little thought and review before we press "submit", if only to make it easier on others having to figger' out what we have to say! Getting rid of those pesky red underlines before we post (right click on the underline for spell check) cleans things up significantly!
My pet peeve is the misuse of the apostrophe. It seems every use of 's' must have an apostrophe before it. S mean plural, apostrophe means "belong to the the word before or after." I found these two in the Reno newspaper in ads on the same page. Don't we have proofers anymore?
$2.95 Sloppy Joe's (what belongs to sloppy joe?)
Free beer Tuesday's (now I have to find Tuesday so she can give me my free beer). Had to get that off my chest.
Love the list! two more common ones I see often to add:
Advise vs Advice. A person
advises you by giving
advice
Choose vs chose. I
chose to chop off my thumb(bad choice). I would never
choose to chop off my thumb.
