I think we are suppose to be 106 today but right now it is 100 at 1:25 pm,

I know, "but it's a dry heat" I have heard that many times, to me, heat is heat.

and 48rob, YIKES! We are in for some hot times. We had some really cold weather this winter but walked in all of it except the 20's. after all, I was doing it for my health, I think the 20's wasn't good for my health.

Had a record setting 93 degrees a couple of days ago. Last night it hit the high forties! I thought about turning the heat on. Way too much wetness this Spring, clouds and rain almost every day. When we finally get some sun, it's hotter than hell! and full of severe weather. All this after a record winter with 170 inches of snow!

High was 45 today, got hail at the 8500 foot level and the highway turned to ice. So far we haven't even had spring. Next week is supposed to get warmer. So far, we have had snow every month for the last 9 months. Yippee

Hasn't gotten much over 60 here in the SF Bay Area in the last couple of months. We're calling this month Junuary because of all the rain and cool weather.

It got up to 103 today here, and its a ''wet'' heat in my neck of the woods. This year was typical, except for the 16'' of rain in one week.

Py0tr, just talking good ol' Texas weather, not down under. We have had such a small pittance of rain that we have been under a burn ban for quite a while. We are beginning to get big cracks in the ground out in my pasture. One of my miniature horses could step in a crack and hurt a leg. We need rain BAD. I guess we will be able to tolerate the heat but someone needs send rain our way. Gotta go walk before the heat sets in........yeah, right..

This has been a very wacky winter. But at the moment it is nice. Today is supposed to be around 70 high and 40 low. I am in the groove.

There are a lot of cons to living in Southern California. Too many "rats in the cage", traffic, smog (but it's a heck of a lot better than it used to be), high taxes, liberals, to a lesser degree conservatives, illegal immigrants out the gazoo, etc, etc, etc.

However, the weather is a definite plus. I've lived in my present home for about 27 years and have used the air conditioner a half dozen times (but under protest/under duress acquiescing to my family's demands). A small fan or ceiling fan is all that is required to be comfortable in all but the very hottest weather and a fan uses about 1% of the current of a central air conditioner. One month last year my electric bill was $15 as I get a credit from the power company to allow them to turn off my a/c (which isn't on in the first place) off at will. I can go all winter w/o turning on the forced air heater, but because my wife is such a sissy we do use it for a few minutes in the morning and the evening on the coldest days of the year. A winter gas bill typically is less than $40.

The humidity here is very low so even when it's over 100 it isn't that uncomfortable.

I think I'd melt (which some, I'm sure, would be thrilled to see) if I had to live in the conditions some of you do.

Cheers,

Gus
