Take your teardrop, and sleep in street, in front of the house where you partied.

Most folks are not fortunate enough to party close enough to where they live to be able to walk home. But if their home away from home is just a few feet away from the party, why not?

Isn't the Cat Dr doing something like that this year?

friend of mine just got busted big time for "drunk driving".. $5000 fine, license suspended for 5 years, and must attend "counselling".. pretty stiff huh? he blew a .09 which is .01 over the limit here.. he wasn't driving, he was sleeping in the car in the parking lot of the pub he drank the booze in.. he was in in his sleeping bag in the back seat with his shoes and pants off and the keys still in his pant's pocket.. so what the court says is.. he had access to the keys and was inside the vehicle while over the legal limit... Guilty!

this was in Vancouver BC, your laws may be different but don't assume you're safe from the idiots in the legal profession if you chose to sleep it off in your car..

Not that I am Pro Drunk Driving.

And I have the dubious honor of my Grand Father being the first person in Pennsylvania Killed by a Drunk Driver.

BUT

DUI's have become the new "Cash Cows" for Law enforcement.

Its almost a growth industry.

I for one refuse to run in a rigged Horse Race.

To quote a friend of mine who was referring to Fishing;

If they'd lower the limit, We'd catch more.

Happy Trails

Lance and I usually opt to spend the evening at home and we're usually snug in our beds long before midnight. We enjoy a party as well as the next person, but even if you DON'T drink while you're out, that doesn't protect you from all the other drunks on the road so we just choose to stay home.
Life is sooooo good.........

Sorry Folks, for seeing this late.
So, lemme get this straight : sleeping it off in the car gets you busted. Therefore sleeping it off inside the still connected Teardrop may still get you busted because you still "have access to the keys" ? Some overly zealous individual could make a case of that as well, seeing as how "Truck & Trailers" are considered as one vehicle, car & trailer as one vehicle too.
Might pay to disconnect the teardrop & park it up the drive way & not on the street.
Let's extrapolate this a little futher: You're sleeping it off on the couch, in the lounge of your host and the car ia parked 30 feet away in the drive. there's a raid (probably from a tip off) & it's discovered you're over the limit, you have the car keys in your pocket and becuase you "still have access to the keys & the vehicle" . . . . . .
Where does it stop? Oh, wait a minute. George's 1984 didn't come to pass and this IS the 21st century. . . . .

On a more serious note, hope your friend is successful in an appeal

Yeah, that wouldn't fly here in the Staes.

Now if they find you passed out behind the wheel, different story.

In New Jersey, if you sleep it off in your car and you have your keys, you are as guilty as if you are driving. This makes no sense to me. It seems like in a drunken state, you might think it's better to risk the 10 minute drive home, instead of the whole night long in a parking lot.

I gave up drinking a long time ago just so I wouldn't have any of these problems. So far it has worked. Larryw
