What big earthquakes and winds??
OK...so we had a bit of a shaker in what, 89? Or was that the fire? can't remember...they were 2 years apart...
The only wind I'm aware of in at the Altamont Pass...I guess there is a wind farm on HWY 10 out there by Palm Desert on the way to the awesome city of Blythe...
Talk to Slow about wind. He's even building a teardrop gathering around the Winds of Wyoming!!
Not every part of CA has quakes. I hate to say it, but I miss them. I moved from the San Francisco area 5 years ago. No quakes here in the Sacramento area. I grew up with quakes, they are just a part of life and nothing to get too worked up about. Just when you realize it's not vertigo but a quake, it's all over. Run to the radio and listen to the news station to find out how big and where it was centered. That's about it.
And yes, I did see the Cypress structure first hand while they were still trying to get the last survivors out of the crushed cars. But I also lost many patients to the Oakland Hills fire...and fires can happen anywhere.
So give Cali a try!! Nothing too scary out here!! No hurricanes or tornadoes to speak of! And we have the best sourdough bread on earth!!
Oh, AND the best redwood trees. You haven't lived til you camp in a redwood forest!
