That's what I keep trying to explain! If we're going to use this thing for our summer trip, I'm going to need some good focused time to make it happen!

I'm excited to see how Eagle and her work party are making out. I realize she is probably running around like mad hosting and working, probably covered with glue and foam dust right now, and we probably won't get to see any pics until the dust settles, but still...I am curious.

Anyone seen any up dates?

I am curious too, and anxious to see progress pics. I do hope the weather holds out for the party.

oh my, it was a unique weekend to say the least! we had a great bunch of folks arrive on friday. some old timers, and a few new comers. it was terrific seeing the old guys and meeting the new ones! we met larry from here! he brought his friend wayne also.
another really nice first timer came down and brought some wine for us to have a wine tasting. well it seriously did not take too many of the little dixie cup samples to knock me out! bed time for me was extremely early friday night. saturday i woke up with a fever and i was sick! i tried hard to keep it moving on saturday, but you know fevers and being nice and even being upright don't got to well together. we also had a couple of the guys that were ummm a tad under the weather also. however, i don't think their problem was due to being sick. perhaps 500lbs of beer and/or whiskey and bourbon will do that to a body? :frightened: so a lot of water was consumed by them thru out the day once they could hold it down that is.
now our tearjerker chapter director just happened to be one of those water consuming people. :frightened: so he is in fact only in one pic that i have from the build. even though he was a water consumer that day, he did get us a going, he helped with the cooking of breakfast (although i don't know how without losing it, but he did. and he did get the build a going.

so here is the one pic of him and the build starts:

side wall going up

front wall

they used screws to hold the foam together

the inside, way bigger than i was expecting!

they build on frame so things fit properly. and it was removed and set down in the yard (on top of wood) til i can work on it again. so the basic shape/shell is done. but lots, lots more work needs to be done. i do think i may stack foam in the front and sculpt(?) it to a little more round looking shape.

the sad part is, the floor i did do does not fit back on the frame! i guess once i put the lauan on it just was too big. so when lemons are thrown your way, you make lemonaid right? well yes you do. the good news on this is that with a new thinner floor, i can stand completely upright inside! :applause: so if i get some plywood, i should/maybe beable to take that top lauan off from what i did and might beable to stick that on top of the plywood. so perhaps that papered floor won't go to waste. i can hope so anyway.

patricia we missed you! if i am feeling better you can come down this coming weekend if you want.

Looks like the good ol' fashioned trailer-raising made some decent progress despite the 'spirited' malaise.
Now that you've got the floor figured out as well it sounds like you're on your way.
I'm trying to work this weekend in between the rain showers - Ahh, the joys of the west coast !

Hope you can kick the fever quickly cause there's trailers to build and camping to be had - tick, tock...

we did not get the middle arched wall put in yet, but it really will need to be put in, with out that its not very study yet, and would probably collasp like that float did. and we don't want that to happen.

i want to thank everyone for coming down and i do hope everyone had a good time, (even though the hostess was under the weather. sorry folks.

Looking good Louella!

Did you happen to take a photo of all the teardrops in the yard that were visiting?

It looks like a really wonderful gathering! Are you going to host a yearly event? It looks like a good place for it.
The tear is nice too. The floor, I love it, I hate to see it as a floor though. I think it would make a really cool ceiling. But you do what you want. You deserve to.

Now, there's a thought    I'm wondering if you could somehow pad it, mount it on a sheet of ply or foam and make it a padded headboard... Better to see your artistic creation....

That's a lot of work, in a short amount of time. I wish I had a bunch of friends like that. Me, I'm a one man construction crew. But then, I guess I like it that way. I'm too much of a control freak to let someone else make things for me. Almost every time I contract out some work, I'm somehow disappointed. Just too damn picky according to my other half. :NC :NC :NC
