You're probably seeing 50cc scoots. Top end speed is around 45. Top end speed for my bike is 65. That does not include, nor require a tow rope attached to a semi.

At a light I'm off the line faster than most cars. Years ago I owned a Kawasaki 550. It was heavy. Honestly at 65 or 70 it felt like it was giving everything it had. My Buddy weighs in at 220. With that said, it's light weight keeps me away from busy highways. The interstate with its large trucks is a no no. The wind off them will blow me around. I enjoy old highways that run beside the major thourogh fares. Much more scenic any way.

If I wanted to spend more time on highways I would probably invest in a Honda Silverwing scooter. Top speed is reported to be 105.

I think they need to allow quads and rangers rzr's on the street I was looking at a arctic cat top speed 75mph on road don't know about where you live but here I can't go 75mph on the streets other then the freeway. just think how much gas we could save and most of us could get by without a car if they allowed it I know I could cut down to a single car.

I believe.......not positive....they are allowed on roads in Minnesota, Wisconsin and South Dakota. I think individual cities can ban them but in small towns they are used to get around with. I think the tires on them would make for a rough ride on pavement.

Some retirement villages only allow golf carts for transportation and there are some really fancy ones out there.

They allow ATV/UTV's in Utah as well ... they just need to have all the necessary lights/horn/schtuff to make them street legal ... oh and that pesky state inspection/plate.

I've got my scoot and the hubby has a 750 Honda Shadow. Both bikes fit in the back of our Ford F150. We like to take them down to the Black Hills to tour around. I don't like being a passenger on the back of a bike. I'm not comfortable. Always worried I'm a hinderance.......but then we saw one of these.

Now if only we'd win the lottery.

a few years ago when the gas was high a bunch of guys at work got motorcycles to save on gas, then they joined riding clubs, one guy put 4,000 miles on his bike last year, and another put over 3,000. and that is up here in New Hampshire where you only ride for 3 or 4 months normally.

Yup! when gas prices go up you start seeing more motorcycles and more scoots. I'm getting a kick out of seeing some vintage motorcycles hit the road again. The money I save with my scoot is nice but it doesn't compare to the smiles per mile I get riding her.
