New foamie in the works!

Hey everyone,

After much research and discussion and more research, we have finally started our 5 x 8 foamie.

We bought a used trailer July 5 and started dismantling all the parts we didn't need.
Lots of grinding and respraying, but the trailer is good to go, the floor is built and the underside is coated.
Door frames are being made. Here are a few pictures of some of whats been done so far.

New Pics finally uploaded!!!
Trailer is "remodeled" and coated.
Deck is built. We decided to make the trailer wider going with a 5X8 instead.
Last minute discussion about the sides led us to bigger than planned doorways, but it all got framed and covered.
A few coats of paint on the insides before install to make that easier.
Sides are on an looking good!!
Rolling on the foam. We went with a thinner foam for the front and top and eliminated all the cutting to make it roll. By adding some straps while drying we didn't need any scoring.

So this is where we are today. The weather is turning colder and we wanted this finished so it can go back outside and covered for the winter. We're having a few problems getting the canvas to stick to the insides, but we'll figure it out, or Don will figure it out.

That’s coming along Nicely !!!!!!!

Check for any thin film attached to the surface of the foam ... some have it , some don’t ... that must be removed before gluing/painting ... I lightly sanded mine a bit to add “tooth” to the surface for better adhesion ... No problems over a year now living outside ...

Another little trick we found was to de-grease the foam , buy wiping the surfaces down with Clean rags soaked with 91% rubbing alcohol (cheap from the Drugstore) .. even oils from your skin can cause problems with paint or glue “sticking” ... Just prep work ...

yes a little bit of cleaning the foam might be needed. but it looks like you are trying to get the canvas to stick to the curve? that can be a bit of a pita! i used staples to keep in on til it dried. you have spars there, use them also, staple the canvas to the spars. keep at it, it will come together. thanks for updating us!

Wonder if anybody makes rust-proof staples ? ... then you could just leave them in there ...
